Training people across the world to design, facilitate and coach communities through RE!NSTITUTE’s 100-Day Challenges.

Our strategy in training

Training has always been an essential part of RE!NSTITUTE’s practice. Hand-in-hand with our years of experience designing and implementing 100-Day Challenges in a variety of countries and contexts around the world, we support building local capacity for communities to continue to implement successful systems change projects to scale impact.

We have developed a variety of models to train others in the 100-Day Challenge methodology and offer in-person, virtual and web-based learning using our innovative online training platform. By training individuals at the community level, we build local capacity to implement 100-Day Challenges and catalyze sustainable systems change in the long term. Teams work with our expert Catalysts to learn the methodology, choreography and enabling conditions of the RE!NSTITUTE 100-Day Challenge through an experiential learning approach. Implementing as they learn how to successfully design and facilitate key workshops, support multi-sectoral teams to overcome obstacles, coach leaders to shift work cultures and mindsets, think differently about data and monitoring, evaluation and learning and more .. Trainees RE!LEARN through workshops, live sessions, and digital sessions, along with an invitation to open office hours to get one-on-one support when needed.

Depending on the needs of our partners, RE!NSTITUTE will design a training program tailored to their systemic, organizational or community needs. Training programs are often approximately 6 months long as trainees learn and then implement an actual 100-Day Challenge!

We have trained staff from government agencies, non-profit organizations and educational institutions.

“Thanks to all our previous training, I felt incredibly ready for the workshop. I understood the reason behind each section of the workshop and was able to answer questions from teams when they came up. I was surprised at how prepared I felt!” Trainee The Dominican Republic

Our Focus Areas in Training

RE!NSTITUTE has delivered training in the United Kingdom, Democratic Republic of Congo, United Arab Emirates, Kenya, Madagascar, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Sudan, Eritrea, South Africa, Dominican Republic, Nepal, Mexico and the United States. We have trained over 270 coaches, who have achieved outstanding impact as they continue to generate ongoing cycles of 100-Day Challenges, transforming systems and producing tangible results and innovation across the world.

RE!NSTITUTE’s training approach has five key features:

  • Learning by doing: The 100-Day Challenge methodology is highly experiential, and the best way for trainees to learn how to do it is to actually do it!  The RE!NSTITUTE Training Program is created around options for online or face-to-face learning coupled with putting that learning into practice. Trainees are supported to deliver 100-Day Challenges as part of the training program, with our Catalysts both training them and coaching them through the delivery of that training within their own communities.

  • Catalyzing Innovation: The RE!NSTITUTE Training Program teaches trainees the 100-Day Challenge Methodology, deep diving into the enabling conditions for systems change and the choreography to put these conditions in place. As part of those enabling conditions and choreography, communities will be asked to set an ‘unreasonable but believable’ goal in a limited time frame. The communities will also be asked to empower their frontline staff as challenge drivers. Trainees learn to create the space for innovation by supporting communities and systems to work towards a common objective with a sense of urgency whilst placing at the center the voices and energy of frontline staff and people with lived experience and expertise.

  • Capacity Building: Through real-life practice of new skills, trainees build up the knowledge and experience to independently carry out 100-Day Challenges within their institution, organization, local and adjacent systems. This enables them to continue to catalyze tangible results and innovation now and in the future.

  • A Transferable Methodology: The RE!NSTITUTE Training Approach is not based on a set of prescribed steps unique to a specific sector, instead on a tried-and-tested approach to systems change. This means the training can be reused in the same field or transferred to other populations, sectors and systems. The enabling conditions the methodology puts in place can be used to catalyze systems change in a variety of ways and settings.

  • Peer-to-Peer Learning: Trainees are part of a training cohort going through the same course. This cohort model allows the trainees to learn from each other, share best practices, and work through friction points they may be having. They will also be part of an ongoing alumni network with their fellow trainees and, through that network, provide updates around best practices.
