We are on a journey to make equity a central part of what we do and an actionable part of our internal and external policies and practices.
Equity requires fair and just opportunities, outcomes, and representation in all systems. As an organization working on systems change, we acknowledge that these systems and the institutions that comprise them are inherently inequitable because they are rooted in bias, privilege, racism, sexism, colonialism, and other abusive power dynamics.
At RE!NSTITUTE, we are on a journey to make equity an actionable part of our internal and external policies and practices, making it a central part of what we do as we work with clients to transform systems, institutions, and practices into being proactively equitable and inclusive.
Trust - We trust that real change is possible. We trust that the world's toughest challenges can be solved by partnering with people closest to the problem and creating enabling conditions for collective action. We build trust with each other and our partners through impact.
Integrity - We act from a place of honesty and kindness. Always seeking to live up to the trust that our partners and those we work with place in us. We walk the talk. We strive to serve as an example for each other and the communities we serve.
Impact - All our actions and work are directed to the achievement of meaningful and positive change in the communities we work with. We believe results are at the core of that change. We use the pursuit of short-term results to unleash capacity and to inspire a focus on long-term and positive systemic change.
Collaboration - We believe in the power of working in partnership with others towards common goals and with shared values. We collaborate with each other across the organization, and with our technical partners, funders, and the communities we seek to serve.
Diversity & Anti-Racism - We respect and value each other as unique human beings and professionals. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, national origin, age, religion, creed, disability, veteran's status, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression. We’re committed to practicing anti-racism and equity both internally and within the systems we serve. We celebrate each other’s life experiences and the different paths that brought us here.
As a part of our journey to make equity a central part of what we do and an actionable part of our internal and external policies and practices, we hope to be transparent and share highlights of what we’ve learned and unlearned. We will be the first to own that this is a journey without a reachable destination, and we humbly acknowledge how far we still have to go but share these lessons in the hope that they will be helpful to others on their own equity journeys.
