Lake County, Long Beach, Monterey County, and Mendocino County came together (virtually) across three days to participate in a Launch Workshop - where they met for the first time as 100-Day teams, formed their ambitious 100-Day goal, and began to develop the work plans necessary to achieve them.
The majority of this cohort, like the first, is focused on housing clients currently in Project Roomkey - with an important lens on racial equity throughout the process:
Lake County - In 100 days, we will connect 55 people experiencing homelessness to safe and stable housing, with 75% being Youth 18-24 or Seniors 55+. Additionally 30% will identify as BIPOC.
Long Beach - In 100 days, we will connect 50 guests from Project Roomkey, Project Homekey, and crisis hotels to safe and stable housing with supportive services, with 50% identifying as Black or African American.
Mendocino County - In 100 Days, Mendocino County will connect 49 Project Roomkey households to safe and stable housing or ongoing supportive services &/or subsidies. We will prioritize vulnerable seniors over the age of 55. Additionally, we will house 15 families from the CalWorks shelter in place program to safe and stable housing. We will work to house BIPOC guests at a rate representative of project demographics.
Monterey County - In 100 days, we will connect 70 Project Roomkey. and motel guests to safe and stable housing and connect them to long-term wrap-around supports. We will prioritize individuals with disabilities and BIPOC guests proportional to their stay in Project Roomkey.
Day 1 for Cohort 3 is on May 24th - and the four communities are eager to begin to collaborate, innovate, and execute towards achieving their unreasonable but believable goals. We are so excited to support them on their journey, and to see all of the learning and progress that comes from their Challenge! As always, we want to give a huge shout-out to the California Homeless Coordinating and Financing Council for all of their support in making this work possible.
We are also excited to have AXA XL’s participation in this cohort. In addition to providing financial support to the communities, volunteers with a passion for social impact from AXA XL will be joining the Challenge to better understand homelessness, learn the 100-Day methodology, and make their expertise available to the team.
