Building the capacity of the new Ministry of Regional Integration and International Cooperation in Zimbabwe to deliver tangible results.
In 2010, RE!NSTITUTE (formally known as the Rapid Results Institute) worked with the Zimbabwean Ministry of Regional Integration and International Cooperation to train ministry leaders on the 100-Day Challenge methodology (then known as Rapid Results Initiatives) to design a new type of capacity-building project based on the idea that the most effective way to build capacity is to focus on clear performance targets.
RE!NSTITUTE helped ministry leaders (1) clarify specific, long-term performance targets; (2) launch diagnostic initiatives aimed at uncovering and validating capacity needs while achieving specific 100-Day goals; (3) integrate the lessons from the 100-Day projects into the project design. The project went into implementation in 2013. 100-Day Challenges are still done to this day in Zimbabwe in numerous of government ministries.
In the 2010s, 100-Day Challenges began to be used in multiple African countries as a key way for governments to achieve tangible impact against their longer-term strategic plans. This helped build belief that effective government reforms are possible and momentum towards the attainment of Key Performance Indicators across sectors.
The 100-Day Challenge, known locally as the ‘Rapid Results Approach’, continues to be used to this day by the Zimbabwean government to achieve tangible results in multiple sectors as part of their Vision 2030.
