Using the 100-Day Challenge methodology for measurable improvement in education or health for the community

Generating mindset and behavioral shifts in rural challenges

In 2007 the methodology used by RE!NSTITUTE (formerly RRI) was introduced to the CBRDP (Community Based Rural Development Project) in Ghana. The goal was to challenge each community receiving a CBDRP grant to set an unreasonable goal in 100 days that would result in a measurable improvement in education or health for the community. CBDRP staff members were trained in the methodology to help provide support during the process. There were 10 communities involved and each Challenge had infrastructure as well as an impact goal that encouraged mindset and behavioral shifts among community members. Local governments shared that the utilization of the method could help improve other areas as well including child feeding programs, rural electrification, and clean water.
