Reflections from the Northern Region Poverty Reduction Program in Ghana.
This article details the reflections from the Northern Region Poverty Reduction Program in Ghana, which had several distinguishing components including primary responsibility for implementation vested in the RCC, fully embedded within government structures, and activities were to be demand-driven. The intentions did not fully materialize and this article reflects on the reasons why and provides some alternatives. There is also a need to build capacity for elected council members at the district level and below which is emphasized as well.
