When we began this work in 2017, in partnership with A Way Home America and the first 3 communities of Los Angeles, Cleveland and Austin, we never imagined that we would have the opportunity to continue this work with so many other communities. After these first communities, we were able to partner with Homebase - who we’ve worked side by side with for 3 years and 23 of the 40 communities across 5 cohorts. We are so grateful to have such a wonderful partner in delivering this work. Homebase has developed in-depth case studies on HUD Cohorts 1-3, which you can view on HUDExchange.
We also want to give a huge shout out to the Department of Housing and Urban Development without whom this work would not be possible, and True Colors United who have worked with these communities to help them center Youth and Young Adult voices in their efforts.
As we all navigate the uncertainty of these difficult times, it is comforting to know that all of these communities continue to fight to provide housing to every youth and young adult. And now more than ever, fight to make sure that racism and injustice no longer prevent fair and equitable housing.
We at RRI will continue to support communities in their efforts to house youth and young adults, and we are currently working with the 6th HUD Cohort who launched a 100-Day Challenge on Youth Homelessness in June, 2020.
We still have a lot of work to do - but together, we can #EndYouthHomelessness!
