“The thing I’ll remember most about the flight is that it was fun.”
What Brought you to RE!NSTITUTE?
Prior to joining RE!NSTITUTE, I worked in the international development field, advising funders and nonprofits on building robust constituent voice mechanisms into their programs. This kind of focus on feedback from those with lived experience led me RE!NSTITUTE, where we have a laser focus on the expertise of frontline workers and those with lived expertise.
What’s Your Current Role?
As the Director of Programs for the US, I help create and implement the strategic vision for our work, particularly in the housing and homelessness sector. By building partnerships with local, regional, and national organizations, RE!NSTITUTE is contributing to the body of evidence that systems change—based on the expertise of people with lived experience and frontline staff—is both essential and achievable for addressing our most complex social challenges.
I joined RE!NSTITUTE as a Catalyst in 2018, working directly with communities during their 100-Day Challenge. From 2021 to 2024, I served as our US Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning manager, supporting our Catalysts and Data Manager in collecting data and insights crucial to understanding our impact in communities, and helped develop the theory of change for our core methodologies.
What do you love about your role and RE!NSTITUTE?
Even though we're all remote, RE!NSTITUTE has built a strong sense of community among the staff. I've rarely worked with a more dedicated, fun, and innovative team. As someone who is annoyingly curious and known to “demand the receipts,” I appreciate working with a team that values collecting, analyzing, and learning from data, whether it's performance numbers or stories of our clients' experiences with the Challenge. I love that we never settle, but instead continually strive to improve our practice, ensuring that our client communities receive the most effective support we can offer.
Where will we find you in your free time?
When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time outdoors. My favorite activities include kayaking, tending to my vegetable garden, and camping trips with my wife and dog (but don’t tell the three indoor cats!).
